History of Engine Room Audio
Founded by Owner and Head Mastering Engineer, Mark Christensen in 1996, Engine Room Audio has become the go-to mastering and recording facility for both industry professionals and independent artists. After beginning his music career as a signed artist with Interscope Records and touring in the mid-west with his own progressive modern-rock material, Mark moved his focus to a career in music production. On a three year residency in England, Mark produced numerous independent records as well as finding the time to tour briefly with prominent acts.
When Mark returned to New York City in 1991, he began work as a line producer at Soundtrack City. At Soundtrack City, he self-produced a demo, which resulted in another record deal and another subsequent round of tours. While the demo was being shopped, Mark also opened one of the first upscale restaurants in New York City’s East Village. In 1996, as a result of the royalty advance and the ultimate sale of the restaurant, he set his sights on returning to his production interests and creating a music business focusing on freelance production, engineering and manufacturing, supporting not only his music career but that of other artists. Based on this vision and principle, Engine Room Audio was born.
Today Engine Room Audio has honed its operations to offer the highest quality mastering and recording facilities and services. It has also come to incorporate a brand new recording facility, CD/ DVD manufacturing facility, studio spaces and the recent introduction of a record label.
